What to Pack? Carry-On Bag

Pack light while in-flight.

There is nothing I hate more than clutter. Whether it be in my house, my car, my cabinets, my handbag, anywhere. So my carry-on bag is no different. I like things neat and organized. Yes, I am a mom, but it is only on the rarest occasions that you will find wrappers, sippy cups, or toys in my purse. And despite my love for big sunglasses and even bigger handbags, you will never see my carry-on bag overflowing because I like things to be breezy, and the last thing that is easy-breezy is lugging a huge, heavy bag through LAX with JetSet Tot.

What to pack in your carry-on bag | The JetSet Family

Packing your carry-on bag.

During my summer travels, my favorite carry-on bag is this great bag I found a few years ago from Missoni. It fits EVERYTHING. And when I say everything, I mean from clothes to a laptop to a small Volkswagen, but then it is small and stylish enough to transition into an everyday handbag once you arrive at your destination. I love the length and how sturdy the handles are.

JetSet Mom’s essentials:

Marc Jacobs cashmere socks in white or black. Sometimes both! I love to slip on the black when you need to remove your shoes at TSA checkpoints and then again while on the flight. :: Goody Hair Clip :: iPhone :: V-moda earbuds :: Vanity Fair or Departures magazine :: Sunglasses :: Louis Vuitton (cold climates) or Gucci pashmina (warm climates) :: Alexander McQueen Ticket Wallet with Hello Kitty lucky charms. :: The JetSet Family business cards by Moo :: American Express (l carry very little cash, just enough for tips and small items when traveling.) I’m a loyal AMEX client. :: A special fortune I always travel with. :: Wallet :: Kindle Fire with my latest downloads and Netflix :: Canon point & shoot because you just never know! :: Laura Mercier lip gloss :: Morphie iPhone charger. I’m a blogger! :: Kate Spade social diary with pen because I am old school like that. ::  Gucci zip catch-all with: Tweezerman nail file & mini-tweezers, Band-aids, floss picks, Claritin, Honest lip balm, Emergen-C, Wisps, Altoids, Wet Ones, Neosporin to dab on the inside of my nose, water enhancing drops and Energy B-12 VitaMelts.

There you have it! All of my must-pack items for your in-flight carry-on bag. Ironically, add a few more magazines, and take out the ticket wallet and it’s my road trip car bag as well!

I know it might sound like a lot, but look – it’s really not. Everything fits so nicely in this bag and the straps are so durable that it evenly distributes the weight so it is not heavy. It also lies flat underneath the seat in front of me so I can sit back, relax, and even enjoy some leg room.

Wheels up!

Love the bag! It’s interesting to see what people carry in their bags. =)

  • You go with just the necessities. I always seem to think I need the bandaids, tissues, tums, tylenol and all that kind of stuff also. I too go nowhere without my Kindle. I would like to shake the hand of whoever invented that piece of technology..

  • Mama to 5 BLessings January 4, 2014

yes, you have everything I would pack – I would add my iPad though and oh I would have 5 kids to pack tote bags for – that is a whole other story! LOL!

  • valmg @ Mom Knows It All January 4, 2014

That’s a nice looking bag! I had one tote that I used that I loved but the zipper broke, leaving me in need of a new one.

  • Ashley M January 4, 2014

Wow, I’m honestly surprised at how much fit into that bag. Love that it’s organized. As much as I try my carry on is never organized.

  • Heather January 4, 2014

I think you have all the essentials. I’d replace the magazine with a kindle because its smaller and I’d definitely add some headphones for listening to music. I too hate clutter. Its weird I never used to care until kids, and even though my house can get cluttered, I get really anal about it now.

As Mama To 5 Blessing, I would add my iPAd. My daughter can´t live with it!!!

  • Adalina May 16, 2016

very Interesting! Is it possible all the things fit in a bag? Too much backpak makes a trip boring. So we should not carry extra bags for traveling. We should use only one bag like on the post and take on it these kind of things. Because thats are very important things for a tour.
