Oops…I did it again.
I’m the type of person that my plans have plans. Yes, I need to meticulously write everything down in desk planner, on the family’s wall calendar, and upload it to both Google Calendar AND iCal. So it came as a huge surprise when I noticed that my passport is expiring in the beginning of August. This would normally not be that big of a deal; however Kiddo and I were leaving for Panama and the Panamanian government requires visitor’s passports be valid for 3 months upon entering.
Oh, but did I mention this was the SECOND time I committed the cardinal passport sin in six months? The same thing happened back in February when Kiddo’s passport expired and we were Mexico bound the following week. Clearly, I didn’t learn my lesson and you can file this whole debacle under: Total #MomFail
How did this happen?
Well for starters, I thought it was expiring in 2018, not 2017. So I went online and immediately tried to get an appointment at the local office in Los Angeles to get my passport expedited. And that’s laughable. No appointments and the next closest is San Diego with an appointment a week later. No biggie, but that’s cutting it close. We’d be leaving in less than a week. Ugh.
And that’s when Sarah of Well Traveled Kids came to my rescue. I had balked on Facebook about my latest mishap and she immediately had a solution and connected me with the great people at RushMyPassport.com Upon calling, I was immediately assigned service agent, John, and he would be responsible for my case. John did an impressive job at walking me through the steps making sure this quick and painless. He talked me through the process, the online passport forms, discussed the rates which varied depending on timeline, and emailed me over a checklist, shipping label, and a link so I could fill out the online passport application.
The best part was Rush My Passport made sure everything was done quickly and properly as they double checked that I crossed all my t’s and dotted all my i’s. They left no room for error, and made sure all of my paperwork was properly filled out.
Remember Prince’s passport photos?
The only other thing I needed to provide were professional passport photos. I may or may not have run to the local Bobbi Brown counter for a quick makeover. Don’t even think about judging, passport photos follow you around for ten years. If I could have found glam squad and wind machine on such short notice to get the Beyoncé look, I would and so would you.
The documents and photos were then overnighted to one of their representatives in San Francisco who personally walked my application to the U.S. Passport Agency and waited for the new book. Once in hand, they overnighted both my new and old passport back to me.
Rush My Passport offers same day as well and I can’t recommend them enough if you find yourself in a similar situation. The entire experience was seamless and I’m we’re officially off to Panama!
When RushMyPassport.com caught wind of my dilemma, they were so kind and offered to extend their complimentary services in order for me to help facilitate this review and share my “happy ending” travel story. Thank you, Rush My Passport, for being my knight in shining armor and coming through for me. You truly saved the day!
