I’m convinced JetSet Tot has traces of plaid and argyle in her preppy little DNA. She developed a ‘country club’ sense of style early on, so it makes complete sense that her wardrobe consists mostly of Ralph Lauren attire emblazoned with the signature embroidered horse, or his Irish knit sweaters and wrap-around kilts. By choice she has made his American classic style her daily uniform, and as a parent who focuses on keeping her daughter ‘appropriately young,’ I couldn’t be happier with her clothing choices. His rugged and worn, yet feminine style of dress also fits her personality to a “T” which is so important when you are raising a spunky child who is ready to take on the world.
This week, Ralph Lauren is premiering his 2013 fall and winter holiday girls runway show on RalphLauren.com with timeless classics that epitomize everything he and the brand stands for. Designing with children in mind, each piece tells an American story with a slight modern twist. Ralph Lauren has once again defined a collection that can take my child from the classroom and playgrounds to the many holiday formal events we have coming up later this year. Following the fall trends, he has kept his signature layering, “Borrowed from the Boys” and even tossed in some rocker chic pieces which are super fun.
Last month, with the help of my favorite blog, Elizabeth Street, (yes, it’s true, I daydream about becoming their next E Street Mom…) the stage was set with a “Day at the Stables” fashion show that was held at Wölffer Stables in Sagaponack, New York. Adorably sassy, pint-sized #RLGirl looked like they just walked off the pages of the most recent edition of the Preppy Handbook.
Complete with Dylan’s Candy Bar display and a picturesque riding stable backdrop, invited moms and daughters mingled with Jessica Alba, Christie Brinkley, Tiffany Thiessen and Edie Falco all dressed in Ralph Lauren. Following the show, guests were treated to a first ever performance by Island Def Jam recording artist, Madison Beer, activities that included an Essie Nail Art Bar, photo booth and hair braiding bar.
There is something pretty wonderful about childhood and I believe that clothing not only reflects a child’s way of life, but builds a strong confident character. The Ralph Lauren brand has always allowed JetSet Tots of all ages to express themselves in whimsical and proper ways with grace and ambition. In a world where fashion may be fickle, Ralph Lauren is a true American Classic.
