Planning the Perfect NYC Trip with PlacePass

Planning a NYC Tween Trip

New York Is Always A Good Idea

It’s funny how life works. I was born and raised on the East Coast and I can remember a time I knew New York City like the back of my hand. But on a recent trip back to The Big Apple, I realized just how much things can change in a New York Minute. Kiddo has been dying to visit Manhattan for what seems like an eternity, so I decided I would take her to see the bright lights, big city for her birthday trip. But where do I begin planning?

When traveling I like to dive in and experience the culture like a local, but for this trip I want Kiddo to soak in everything wonderful NYC is known for. I want to hit the ground running, and cover as much possible so she can experience everything she’s ever read about in real life. I had her make a “NYC Wish List,” but I also want toss in a few birthday surprises for good measure. And that’s why I turned to PlacePass

While researching the website they had so many activities great for tweens which I personally appreciated right at my fingertips. Talk about a valuable resource, using PlacePass saved me time planning by consolidating everything we were interested in seeing in one place and many were family friendly appropriate for children 6 and up.  I was even able to select different types of categories based on our interests, so I didn’t ave to waste time scrolling through numerous suggestions that we simply wouldn’t have time to visit on this trip.

The Quintessential New York Getaway

I really want to make this getaway special for both Kiddo and I because New York City is a magical place and should be done right. And those of you who have been following our travels know we want to absorb as much possible wherever our boarding pass takes us. What made planning our excursions with PlacePass so appealing is each activity was specialized an set itself a part from your typical city tours.

But the real bonus was PlacePass has the channels to save you time at major attractions with skip-the-line and fast-pass tickets for many popular must-see attractions including: museums, aquariums, and major monuments overseas like the Eiffel Tower and the Vatican. You bet I will put those to use on our next European adventure.

We had originally dubbed this New York City adventure our “Playbill Weekend,” but now it’s a full-fledge Empire State Getaway. Before consulting PlacePass the only two confirmed treats I had planned were a matinée to see Hamilton (finally!) and Kiddo has been obsessed with School of Rock for years, so seeing the play on Broadway is at the top of her list. With PlacePass, we also have the option of adding on shows like Disney’s Aladdin and The Lion King, but we’re going to save those for our next visit.
Kiddo is one of the biggest self-proclaimed foodies I know, and while I’ll be sure to have her try the best pizza in the world, she also expressed interest in visiting Little Italy, Chinatown, and SoHo for meals as well. The Three Neighborhood Food Tour would satisfy all her cravings and a quick jaunt to Hell’s Kitchen for a Dessert Tasting would top everything off very nicely.

The City That Never Sleeps

As for the iconic Manhattan sights, you can bet places like Top of the Rock, the Empire State Building, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, One World Observatory, and Ground Zero are high on our list as well. With PlacePass, we can either opt for a private customized tour with VIP access, or join other tourists on “Hop on – Hop off” bus tours which scale the island.
If shopping is your passion, PlacePass have relationships with New York City’s finest stylists to help you design the shopping trip of your dreams. I wish we had a little more time to do that, but instead, you’ll find us on a private tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art because no visit to New York would be complete without experiencing the most beautiful museum in the country. And time permitting, you may even find us flying high on a helicopter tour. How amazing would that be?
PlacePass makes capturing these special memories possible with Styled Photoshoots around SoHo, Central Park, and DUMBO in Brooklyn. This is something I cannot wait to take advantage of because I would love to for once not be the person behind the lens. While selfies are fun, including this throughout our trip, I’ll get to see our adventure through the eyes of someone else familiar with the area making sure we don’t miss those hard to capture moments.

New York City is Not a City, It’s a World

Just writing this post has me giddy with anticipation for our trip. While I was perusing the PlacePass website, I ventured off to other cities around the world and you can bet I’ll be making a point to consult with them for all future travel plans. I highly recommend checking out PlacePass for your next trip, you’re bound to uncover so many city gems that you had no idea even existed making your next vacation one to remember. Trust me, your wildest travel dreams will come true.
