Ocean Prime Beverly Hills

Happiness is a fantastic dinner with a good girlfriend. Dinner dates with JetSet Hubs and family night with JetSet Kiddo are wonderful, but there is something extremely satisfying about enjoying the company of someone that doesn’t need me to cut their meat. Unless of course, too many cocktails are involved.

Last night, I met Jessi Sanfilippo of the über-pops Shuggilippo.com at Ocean Prime Beverly Hills across from WME. We started the night toasting the new year with a few Black Orchid cocktails that Dennis, the master mixologist, sent over to the table. Let’s just say the man’s a genius. Perfectly balanced with Belvedere black raspberry vodka, St. Germaine elderflower liqueur, hand squeezed lemon and white cranberry juice. However the pièce de résistance was the center ice cube with orchid frozen inside.

What to order?

Bring your appetite and a few friends because there are quite a few must-tries on Ocean Prime’s menu. The portions are not family style, but they are still very nice sized portions so guests can easily share bites of each others plates for an even tastier experience.

Every item was beautifully prepared, seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. Not to take away from the other entrees, I might even go as far to say that the filet was the best steak in LA for 2014. And you know I don’t tend to pick favorites.

My one regret? Not trying a few of their signature rolls. They looked delicious.

The modern American supper club was pure perfection. New to the 90210 area, Ocean Prime just opened in October and was immediately placed on my short list of new spots to try. I’m so sad I waited this long.

Tip: Request one of Janelle’s tables. She is wonderful, knowledgable and an absolute pleasure.

Give me all of it, except for the oysters. I know they’re supposed to be so good, but I just can’t handle them.
