The Great & Powerful Oz Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea for Two.

I can remember being a little girl and having tea at The Plaza in New York City with my mother. The most beautiful portrait of Eloise would carefully chaperone the afternoon as if to make sure everyone was having a magnificent time, DAH-LING. Now I’m grown-up with a beautiful daughter of my own and I want to share the same kind of memories and traditions with her on the west coast. All this time I was searching high and low for that certain fairytale element that was whimsical, yet believable; fun, yet fancy and it has arrive at The London West Hollywood with The Great & Powerful Oz Afternoon Tea inside the Gordon Ramsay.

The Great & Powerful Oz Afternoon Tea

JetSet Tot and I put on our Sunday best and headed to LaLa land for an afternoon of tea and quality girl time. We were greeted inside Gordon Ramsay by Tim, our Oz Ambassador, who made sure our afternoon was nothing but perfect. Our table was decorated with items from the movie which my little munchkin loved. Especially, the sparkly magic wands, a 24-pack of crayons for her place setting and the bag of chocolate coins. Me on the other hand, I was thrilled about the Blu-ray combo pack!

Are you a good witch? Or a bad witch?

Tot was very excited to drink tea. We’re talking Jack Russell Terrier style excited. She politely asked to try the rose and hibiscus blend and Tim promptly brought her her very own kettle of it! I opted for the Emerald City Green Tea, and we shared a glass of the Wicked Witches Brew which was fantastic. 100% pure juice made of honeydew and ginger. I thought Tim was very considerate by reminding me which teas had caffeine for the little one and I thought it was a really nice gesture. She immediately gravitated to the rose and hibiscus, so I had nothing to worry about. How many lumps of sugar she was going to sneak was a whole different story!

Then came out a tower of goodness. At the tippy-top were an assortment of Flying Monkey Bites followed by the most delicious array of Emerald City miniature sandwiches and canapes. To finish off this three tiered centerpiece were Evanora & Theodora’s Wickedly Delicious Treats including The Dark Forest Chocolate Cake, Ruby Red Apple Crumble, and Yellow Brick Road Lemon Meringue Bars. Glinda’s Bubbly Schramsberg “Blanc de Blancs” is also available for the Mommies visiting Oz.

Remember how I mentioned how thoughtful Tim was? Well right as we were leaving he gave JetSet Tot the most unbelievable goodie bag ever to take home! It was not only HUGE, but it was overflowing with gifts that floored both of us. So meet the newest member of The JetSet Family, our beloved flying monkey, Finely! The grin on Tot was ear-to-ear.

“I went to a tea party at The London in West Hollywood. I ate Flying Monkey Bites and I loved the hummus sandwich and my rose tea. My new friend, Tim, gave me the bestest Flying Monkey to take home. His name is Finely. The tea party was so fancy and I drank the pink tea with my pinky up. The hotel was so beautiful. Mr. Ian gave me a special key and let me go upstairs to see the pool that is on the roof! It was sooooooo cool.” – JetSet Tot

Today was so special. I want to especially thank the amazingly beautiful and talented, Gina Wade, for making this enchanted afternoon happen. xx

Hugs & passports,
