Legoland Castle Hotel: A Royal Review

Legoland Castle Hotel San Diego, CA
Thank you to our host, LEGOLAND Castle Hotel at LEGOLAND California for this wonderful getaway.

Hear ye, Hear ye!

The Legoland Castle Hotel at Legoland California is officially open!

Doesn’t every child dream of becoming a princess, or slaying a dragon in medieval lands at one time or another? And I know through a certain series of sorcerer books and the current “slime-making revolution” tweens everywhere would love the chance to be a Grand Wizard casting mystical spells. During our recent stay at the Grand Opening of the new Legoland Castle Hotel, children both young and old have the chance to finally living out the dream they’ve always imagined, spending the night at a Lego hotel at a Legoland resort. One thing is for sure, Southern California family vacations will never be the same!

Once upon a time in a land far, far away…

Carlsbad, California near San Diego to be exact, we were amongst the very first guests to have been invited to experience the grand opening festivities, and I must say without sounding cliche, “Everything is Awesome!” Just steps from the Lego amusement park, let’s just say, if Hollywood producers made “The Crown” series out of Legos, I bet this is exactly what Windsor Castle would be like. I hope you were following along on our social media platforms as we “weekended” like 👑 Harry + Meghan.👑

Dragons, Knights, Princesses and Magic Wizards…Oh, My!

North America’s first is far from a traditional English countryside bed and BRICKfest. There are 250 guest rooms, and 20-suites, with three themed floors celebrating Knights & Dragons, Royal Princesses, and Magic Wizards. We spent our getaway inside the Magic Wizard rooms overlooking the Kingdom’s playground, where wizards are concocting potions and fireworks light up the walls for the grand tournament. Our room slept five altogether between the main bedroom, and the separate sleeping quarters for the children which comfortably sleeps three between the stacked bunk beds, and roll-out trundle bed.

The children’s’ hidden nook is also is home to an impressive entertainment center complete with its own hi-def flatscreen television, and LEGO building station. Once it’s time for lights out, they will doze off to shooting stars illuminating the pretend night sky on the ceiling. Our King size bed in the main bedroom has an ornate headboard with subtle blinking LED lights made to resemble twinkling lights on shelves filled with beakers of potions and a magical bubbling illuminated cauldron.

I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

I decided at the last minute to bring a few guests along with me to the Grand Opening. John, Paul, George, and Ringo, I did my best to find my favorite Brits a crosswalk Abbey Road style, but my British buds were so, “been there, done that.” They were much more excited to check out their Wizard sleeping quarters, and go behind-the-scenes to test out their Lego Yellow Submarine at SEA LIFE Aquarium, home to more than 5,000 living creatures.

Everything Is Awesome

Especially, when you hit the beautiful sunshine and clear views straight to the Pacific Ocean while enjoying a festive cabana poolside. Just beyond the Castle’s Kingdom playground, is the guest pool complete with primary colored LEGO floaties, lounge chairs, and cabanas. This is not only a great place to take a break from the parks, but Legoland truly is a multi-day getaway, and your family will love soaking up the sunshine when it’s below zero temps at home!

Just be sure to know how to swim… Because this dude isn’t a real lifeguard, he only plays one on TV.

JetSet Tip: For the younger kids, our girl, Danielle of CityGirlGoneMom has the 411 on the newly opened DUPLO Land at LEGOLAND California!

There’s nothing I love more than when my kids aren’t in school so we can enjoy family time. On the other hand, there’s always that question that moms everywhere ask themselves—“well, now what do we do for entertainment?” I asked this same question recently when Brody was home. Luckily for me, LEGOLAND California had the best answer ever!

LEGOLAND California just opened their new DUPLO Playtown area for kids and I took advantage of the chance to bring Brody and his new best friend Bridgette to enjoy an exciting day full of fun. It was such a great time!

There are more than 30,000 LEGO models at LEGOLAND California created from more than 62 million LEGO bricks.
