Hotel del Coronado is one of California’s most recognizable hotels. In fact, it’s one of the most iconic in the country. I’ve been wanting to plan a family vacation on the gorgeous seaside property for as long as I can remember, and recently had the chance when the resort hosted our visit.
The first stop on our Spring Break San Diego Tour was the quaint beach town, Coronado Island. Anyone who has been will immediately tell you that it would not be a proper Coronado getaway without a stay at the Hotel del Coronado. Not only is the town one of the best family-friendly beach destinations, but one of the most beautiful spots in the country. I could not wait to check-in and start enjoying everything the resort had to offer.
Ocean view room? Check! KIDtopia “camp”? Check! Swedish/Esalen Massage? Check! Reservations at Sheerwater for a sunset beachside dinner? Check! This has the potential to be an amazing family vacation.
There is so much history behind the Hotel del Coronado, and yes, for those wondering there are a few haunted areas on property. I’m not going to get into all of the specifics; however the staff are ready, willing and able to share all of the stories for those interested.
Our room was quite large and had a beautiful balcony with unobstructed views of the pool and the Pacific. Very quiet and quite serene, our guest room had a modern Renovation Hardware touch without losing the charm or feel of the beach cottage vibe.
JetSet Tot visited KIDtopia while I hit the spa, and had a great time searching for shells on the beach, and going on a scavenger hunt around the property with her counselor. By the time I was ready to pick her up, she had eaten lunch, ice cream, played games, and was very well-versed about the history of Hotel del Coronado as well as knew were everything was because of her tour.
Welcome amenities can set the tone for the remainder of your stay. Properties that go above and beyond to welcome you with small special added touches always become the ones you cherish the most. Please take a look at this over-the-top edible aquarium the Hotel del Coronado sent to the room for JetSet Kiddo! Even the seashells were edible chocolate. It could quite possibly be the best treat ever!
