I first noticed the difference in August. We were only into week two of the new school year and my life had become a relay-race slash beat-the-clock competition — who am I kidding? It resembled a carefully calculated comedy sitcom.

Let me be clear, I am far from complaining. It’s more like reflecting on how hysterical I must look trying to juggle one child’s extra-curricular activities when most of my peers have 2, 3 and 4 kids. But since this is my little space, I’ll continue to whine as I type in my yoga pants, and pray to the merlot gods for a little resolve.

Twice a week, my finely rehearsed dance that I have practiced and know so well turns into complete chaos. See, on most days, Hubs and I alternate school drop offs and pick ups depending on our schedules, meetings and appointments, but on Tuesday and Thursdays when play rehearsals are followed by swim: Welcome to Crazytown, USA!

To some this probably sounds like cake, but there are three things I won’t budge on: homework, nightly reading and sleep – so in order for Kiddo to get plenty of the last one, I need to be on my best “Mom Game” and be home by 5:00 so I can have dinner ready and on the table by 6.

In a perfect world I would have an amazing garden like Oprah and my own personal chef to tend to our family dinners, but for now you are looking at the acting Executive Chef of Casa de Standley. I have high expectations when it comes to flavors, and take pride in what I serve so I felt a huge sigh of relief after trying the Asian Style Foster Farms Sauté Ready.
