Disney Aulani at Christmas
Our first trip to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii was eight years ago when Kiddo was just in Kindergarten. Immediately, we knew this was not your typical Disney resort. It is evident the moment you arrive that there is something special about this propery. This dwelling is mythical and magical, you’ll dread the thought of having to ever go home. Kiddo started her first year of Junior High and Aulani remains one of our most beloved places to visit. Why? Because of the memories we made over the years, the fact embraces the old-school “Disney Way” style, and the weather. It’s also very low-key Disney, but still has this incredible family vibe to it.
Ummm…Did I mention the weather?
Just put those snow boots away, and break out the flip flops. It doesn’t matter if you are 12 months or 12 years, Aulani is filled with Disney magic.
During our visits, we typically book either a 1- or 2-bedroom oceanview villa in the main tower. We try to visit during low-season when we can. Winter break is considered high-season (at 98% capacity,) and even at its most crowded, it never felt that way. We had plenty of space at the beach and pools, while I prefer low-season, spring break, and summer trips are not bad at all. It’s not an enormous property, but the cast members do an outstanding job at keeping things spread out and flowing.
But what about Disney Aulani for The Holidays?
Last week, a reader wrote in and asked, “Is Aulani a good place to visit during the holidays?” Truthfully, Disney’s Aulani is a great place to visit any time of year, but during the holidays it’s absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, and very special. I remember in an old episode of Mad Men, Don Draper describes Hawaii as a “feeling” and that is exactly what Aulani is like.
You’re welcomed by the warmest breeze, and the sweetest smell in the air, everyone is so nice, and you just can’t help to feel as though you’re amongst family or as they would say at Aulani, ‘ohana.
