Four Seasons Westlake Village

Have Yourself a Merry California Christmas
A very special “thank you” to Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, California for hosting The JetSet Family and inviting us to experience this Winter Wonderland experience first hand. For more information on this year’s festivities, please visit the hotel website at FourSeasons.com/WestlakeVillage.

I found Christmas. I hadn’t exactly lost it  it, but maybe just misplaced it little bit. With each passing year, I secretly long for childhood Christmas memories such as snow days, chestnuts roasting on an open fire , L.L. Bean camp moccasins and holiday tunes, only before I’m jolted back into reality. Suddenly, I remember, snow turns quickly turns charcoal gray, I’m not even a fan of chestnuts, My UGG boots are rad and no one makes a better Christmas music playlist than me.  What I am a fan of is Santa hang ten’ing it on his long board while eight tiny reindeer follow behind on jet skis along the coast of Malibu. Now if only I could satisfy my high (perhaps unrealistic,) expectations by blending the east coast with the west…

I can’t, but Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village certainly did.

Let It Snow! Getaway at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village

At the base of the Santa Monica mountain range, Four Seasons Westlake has become a regular favorite JetSet Mom + Tot girls weekend getaway spot.  This December our Four Seasons friends kicked the Christmas spirit into high gear for their annual #LetItSnow event, and after spending time at the resort, there is no questioning why the readers of Conde Nast Traveler named them the #1 Hotel in Southern California and Los Angeles for 2014. Simply put, they’ve earned it.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The 3rd Annual Winter Wonderland event at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village takes place on selected Friday and Saturday nights during December. Tot and I watched as the property transformed right before our eyes complete with snow flurries. I have to say, it’s quite magical and breathtaking to experience especially with a hot cocoa or cider in hand…or even better with a nice glass of champagne from Lookout Lounge. (See, it’s not alllll about the kiddos.)

The all-new Hybrid Ice Skating Rink was a BIG hit with Tot. I’m very proud to say she did pretty well for the first time on blades. She held her own, but if we’re telling the truth, she was about as graceful as Johnny Weir in combat boots. She loved every minute and hasn’t stopped gushing about it since.

“Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, California greatly succeeds in making the future generation of pint-sized guests very happy year round…especially during the holidays.”  JetSetMom

During our visit to Santa’s workshop, Tot told Jolly St. Nick all of the American Girl toys she was hoping to find under the tree, but was pretty bummed she forgot to mention an iPad. Pffft. Kids these days. Regardless, her dismay was quickly forgotten by the time we took a spin on the Holiday Express Train Ride where Mr. Grinch gifted the passengers with candy canes.

Chocolate Mousse Bites

After hanging up our skates, Tot worked up an appetite and mama was looking for a nightcap. We retreated up to Mercato Italiano for the most wonderful dinner with selections from the the Toscana region of Italy. Just close your eyes and dream of Smoked Salmon, Fig Compote and Chive crostinis;  a selection of antipastas such as Marinated Italian Olives, Toasted Almon, Citrus Oregano and Thyme; passed oven roasted shrimp and mushroom pizzas; Lasagna Bolognese; “Tri Colore” Radicchio and Asparagus Frisee with Pine Nuts; and the most delicious Lamb Osso Bucco with Pickled Onion and Lemon Zest Gremolata you could possibly imagine.

No One Does Christmas Like #FSHolidays

The surprises continued after our stroll through the Winter Wonderland. Upon entering our beautiful room on the  sixth floor, better known as the “Tranquility Floor,” we found gifts galore! Personalized child-size robes and slippers with our favorite mascot of the weekend: Olaf! There were edibles, and a fantastic plate of treats for Mom that featured my Instagram which was an added touch that I simply adored.

The Breakfast Club

So one of the most memorable parts of the entire weekend was JetSet Tot having the opportunity to dine with the cast of Frozen. She was a bit starstruck when Olaf came by our table, but who wouldn’t be? I mean, who doesn’t want to build a snowman? Me on the other hand, well let’s just say I was so obsessed partially with Anna’s beauty and the locally sourced ingredients at the Farmers’ Market buffet. So much that I may have tried to smuggle out a freshly made smoothies (or twelve….)

After breakfast we took advantage of some of the many child-friendly spots throughout the hotel like the indoor pool and arcade. Next time? Tot and I will be spending our January birthdays at the California Health & Longevity Institute for some R&R and pampering.

And as always, she loved every minute of pool time.

Elf On The Shelf

Our elf at home is named, “Melman” and we found out that his cousin Elf Julian has taken up residency at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village. On Friday and Saturday afternoons at 4:30pm, hotel guests can enjoy a special story time in the lobby where an Elf will read The Elf on the Shelf and another holiday classic such as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or Curious George.  But what if the Elf on the Shelf was real?
