The Best Hotels in Los Angeles
As a travel and lifestyle contributor for CBS Los Angeles, I get to write about some of my favorite things: hotels, fine-dining experiences and the hottest events in LA. One of my most recent assignments had me sharing my favorite Los Angeles luxury hotels which is a topic I love dearly. In case you missed my original CBS piece, below is a slightly different edited version that highlights why I truly believe each hotel and resort deserve to be considered “the best”. Whether you are visiting the LaLa Land for the first time, or looking for a dream staycation, I’ve compiled a great list of luxury hotels Los Angeles that I have come to know and love so much.
Luxury Hotels Los Angeles
The best hotels in Los Angeles do not only consist of ultra-posh suites, deluxe spas, and award winning fine-dining, but the creation of grand experiences for guests looking to live the luxe life. Whether in town for business or pleasure, sightseeing or relaxation, there is no question, luxury hotels in Los Angeles take extraordinary pride in catering to a guest’s every need.
Upon arriving at the iconic Hotel Bel-Air, guests stroll over a fairy-tale footbridge where Hercules, Athena and Chloe are ready and waiting to welcome visitors. No, they are not the concierge, host or bellman, they are the hotel’s resident swans who reside on property at Swan Lake. In some circles, they are considered original Hollywood royalty. Hotel Bel-Air’s picturesque 12 acres of lush gardens, instantly sets the tone for the duration, while the unique landscape design makes this a “paparazzi-free” refuge. After a quick (or extra-long) spa treatment at Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie before heading off to Wolfgang Puck for California cuisine with European and Mediterranean influences is exactly what every itinerary should include.

The Peninsula Beverly Hills
The Peninsula Beverly Hills has a very special way of turning dreams of an extraordinary L.A. getaway into a reality. Inside a world of chauffeured car service, spa treatments and luxurious five-diamond rooms, suites and villas, exists a vacation that is usually only seen on the big screen. And you just can’t go wrong on ‘Peninsula Time’ where guests are invited to check-in or check-out 24 hours a day. Offering customized one-of-a-kind experiences, foodies looking to check something big off their bucket list, will have the time of their lives as they join Chef David Codney for a half-day of fishing on the Pacific Ocean. Upon their return to the hotel, participants will feast on a four-course dinner later that evening, featuring the catch-of-the-day at The Belvedere. Families are especially embraced at >The Peninsula Beverly Hills where kids (furry-kind included,) are welcomed. Children have the opportunity to become cupcake and cookie masters at the Young Pastry Chefs Academy and pampered pets are considered VIP with personalised towels, doggy beds and a special menu with items like the ‘Bow Wow Beef Burger’ or ‘Spot’s New York Strip’.

Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills (A Four Seasons Hotel)
Setting the bar for all other hotels, Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills (A Four Seasons Hotel) is the epitome of luxury, known for it’s sophisticated opulence with gorgeous suites, spa oasis, fine-dining and unrivaled service. However, this grand hotel has left quite a unique mark on popular culture as well. Probably, most recognizable for stealing the spotlight in the 1990 blockbuster hit, Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, it is hard to arrive on property and not fondly remember the film. What many might not know is the Beverly Wilshire has a dedicated support team ready to customize your next stay and recreate your favorite moments from the movie complete with stay in the Presidential Suite, shopping spree on Rodeo Drive and evening at the opera. It’s good to live like Edward and Vivian.
The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles
Just steps away from the entrance of the Staples Center, high above the dueling neon lights of L.A. Live, is a sweet escape on the 23rd floor of The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles. What makes this hotel retreat so special? Welcome to The Ritz-Carlton Club® Level. Like everything else worth waiting for in Los Angeles, only a select few have the privilege of accessing this space with their Ritz-Carlton room keycard. Club Level status provides guests looking to enhance their downtown L.A. experience with added privacy, heightened security, personalized service and impeccable attention to detail. In a town where connections can determine “courtside” versus “nosebleed”, Club Level standing definitely has many advantages. A team of dedicated concierge members are on-hand ready to score hard to get reservations at the latest restaurants and hot spots; tickets to sold out games and shows; or invites to high-profile red carpet events. Admission to the plush, Club Lounge, also entitles you to a never ending elaborate spread of continuous food and beverages. Breakfast, lunch, midday snacks, dinner, and happy hour, as well as after-hour bites, are presented throughout the day and available while taking in views of L.A.’s most famous landmark, the Hollywood sign. Although grazing throughout the day is on fine fare is very tempting, make sure to save your appetite because you are not going to want to pass up dinner and drinks at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck. The views are magical and the food is fabulous. Hashtag: #RCMemories

Intimate, mysterious and private are words synonymous with the famous Chateau Marmont. Privacy being the key factor, do not let the Sunset Strip slash West Hollywood address fool you one bit. Once you check-in, thoughts of big city life instantly vanish allowing even the most recognized guests slip quietly into obscurity. Noted as the place to spot celebs in the wild, please don’t think about snapping a photo or asking for an autograph. There is a reason models gather, legends reunite and celebrities seek refuge within the confines of Chateau Marmont, it is to purposely remain anonymous while being surrounded by a beautiful setting and excellent service. While visiting Chateau Marmont, it is not uncommon to be having breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the dining room or garden terrace only to be seated amongst a sea of rockstars, movie stars and international superstars. Quite frankly, it’s considered the norm around these parts. In Los Angeles, it is easy to find someone eager to share their “Chateau story” complete with celeb sighting. Some tales might sound slightly far-fetched, but chances are they are completely accurate. In the wise words of Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, “If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont.” The walls are thick, and the parties are legendary, but with any luck, you might even score an invite. Just make sure not to name drop or humble brag across social media platforms, because you will be asked not to return.
