Savor the Season.
On a regular basis, we try to share the stories of amazing restaurants we’ve frequented with our pint-sized foodie. By telling our readers about our different culinary adventures, we hope that other families will have the opportunity to enjoy them as much as we have. However, every once in awhile, an event comes along that finds all of our favorite chefs under one roof for a very unique family-friendly foodie experience.
The All-Star Chef Classic debuted on L.A. LIVE!’s Event Deck and JetSet Tot had the opportunity to not only meet the master chefs she recognized from TV, but try their dishes and even took baking lessons from the fonut queen herself, Waylynn Lucas inside Restaurant Stadium.

What is the All-Star Chef Classic?
On Sunday, the new modern food event was declared Savor the Season presented by Melissa’s Produce and 600 guests were treated to a Farmer’s Market celebration in the Chef’s Tasting Arena.
All-Star chefs including Wylie Dufresne (Edamame Gazpacho), Graham Elliot (Deconstructed Caesar Salad), Ben Ford (Sea Bass Crudo with fennel, olive, avocado, lemon, toasted hazelnuts, chile,) Nancy Silverton (Kale salad with ricotta salata, pine nuts and anchovies), Jennifer Jasinski (Cardamon Brined Pork Belly on asparagus and coconut veloute with sugarsnap peas spiced salad)
David Myers (Tuna with Sesame Tofu), Vinny Dotolo, David LeFevre, Josiah Citrin and Alex Seidel (Lamb Sweetbread Confit, Fruition Farms sheep’s milk ricotta, sweet English pea, Shimeji mushroom marmalade), each created seasonal dishes using produce from a local purveyor.
Time to make the Fonuts
For the mini-bakers: Not only has this never been done before, but “Savor the Season Presented by Melissa’s Produce” featured a kid’s zone with fun culinary activities, including a mini-fonut baking lesson for 60 children by Waylynn Lucas, who is the co-owner of Fonuts. Also taking part in the baking festivities were Los Angeles Galaxy captain Robbie Keane and his wife, Claudine Palmer, with their son, actor Misha Collins (“Supernatural”) with his children, French pastry chef Florian Bellanger stopped by the lesson to lend a hand to Waylynn Lucas and the fantastic, Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mec) also joined in mini-fonut baking class with his two children.
The kiddos also received goodies to take home courtesy of Sur la Table, balloon creations and competed in a whip-cream eating contest.
