Remember how I mentioned the beginning of this year that we had something very special planned for JetSet Tot’s 8th birthday? Well I had no idea it was going to be the biggest birthday of her entire life. The Orlando Hotel reached out to us after seeing that Tot was a huge fan of American Girl dolls, and invited us to spend the weekend experiencing their family-friendly signature American Girl Package at the boutique hotel.
The Orlando takes care of pint-sized travelers very well. Upon check-in, Tot was greeted with a very special note detailing everything that was about to happen. Once she peeked inside the envelope, she couldn’t wait to get up to the room and we couldn’t keep up with her.
The room was absolutely lovely, with the best view of the Hollywood sign up in the hills; however there was something even more exciting happening in our room. On Tot’s bed, was her very own American Girl bed, with linens, cozy white robe and slippers for her to keep! Tot was over the moon, and I couldn’t wait to jump into my bed because it was so warm, white and welcoming. But we were on a mission…
Next stop, a shopping visit with our Personal Shopper, Karina L., at American Girl Place at The Grove, which is only minutes away from The Orlando. This is complimentary service is part of the American Girl package; however we’ve worked with Karina for years so we couldn’t wait to see her and pick out some new clothes, accessories and books for Tot’s newest American Girl, Grace. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with even more goodies, as Karina spoiled Tot with a bag featuring a spa package for the doll which included a robe, spa slippers and a pedicure set, hair styling certificate and more. Next, we were off to afternoon tea!
When we arrived back at The Orlando late that evening after the big concert, they left the sweetest gift ever back in our room. The most delicious cupcake we’ve ever tasted from Magnolia Bakery which is directly across the street (next to the DryBar, moms!) No joke. Would I lie about something like this? I swear! There is a DryBar directly across the street. As in 200 feet.
Now before I skipped to breakfast, I want to briefly tell you a few things about the room. First, both the bedroom and bathroom were very nicely decorated and spotless. I was very happy to see how clean everything was. I was also very pleased about the room temperature. The thermostat went down to 65 degrees, and perhaps even below, but I can’t recall. The windows open partially for fresh air, and I love, love, loved the assortment of Tazo teas. The bathroom actually felt like a spa escape. Once the doors closed it was so peaceful and the stocked with the best C. O. Bigelow amenities which was a nice treat.
But most importantly? The bed was wonderful. One of the best night rests I’ve had at a hotel in a long time.
Sunday morning, we started our day with breakfast at The Churchill inside of The Orlando. HOW I did not know about this hidden gem before today is beyond me. I loved every single thing about this place. In fact, I enjoyed our meal so much there, that I am going to write an entire post dedicated to how wonderful this spot is. But for now, I highly recommend ordering the breakfast sandwich. It’s absolutely delightful.
To commemorate the entire experience, JetSet Tot had her very own photo shoot back at the hotel and sent home with the photo inside a customized frame.
I was so pleased with the entire stay and extremely grateful for everyone at The Orlando Hotel who made our stay extra-special. So if you are looking for the perfect L.A. vacation, or quick getaway with the kids, or even just the two of you, I would definitely consider The Orlando – it’s the perfect location, fantastic hotel and the service is exceptional. In fact, we loved it so much, we’re considering sneaking away again very soon!
