Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be boarding a zeppelin when I woke up that morning. Yes, a zeppelin. Not, a blimp. A zeppelin. As in Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Bonzo. When I think back to that gorgeous evening, I remember one minute sipping delicious wines at Airflite Aviations, and the next I was in the middle of a field waiting for my ride to ‘land’. I’m not lying when I say that this was not on my to-do list that day. ESPECIALLY, not the part of me sticking my head out the window while moving high above the Pacific Ocean. And to think, I almost passed this opportunity up and stayed home to finish up some things. PTL for Twitter.
Airship Ventures provided a group of us with a unique ‘flight seeing’ tours aboard “Eureka” floating serenely over the California coast. Oddly enough, I had mentioned recently to anyone who would listen that a zeppelin ride had been on my ‘bucket list’. I like to call it manifesting your destiny. Clearly, nothing is impossible, out of reach things just take a little more time it seems. Either way, this flight was a dream come true and proof that if you really want something, there is no reason you cannot figure out how to get it.
I won’t lie, I was scared. Petrified is more like it. I hate turbulence. I get antsy. I’m not a fan of heights and even worse, I hate when my stomach drops. So I was floored at the realization that after my flight, a zeppelin is my new preferred mode of transportation. It only took seconds, as I closed my eyes for a moment and we were already up in the air. I closed them on decent and within a blink of an eye were landed. I missed it! My tummy felt not one butterfly, and not one second of turbulence the entire flight.
