Reunited, and it feels so good.
My partner in crime a.k.a. JetSet Knox and I headed west towards the sea and went out all fancy pants style like the old days. Our hubs held down the fort with the Kiddos at home and we were about to embark on a proper and long overdue GNO.
While we were watching the sunset over the Pacific as we’ve done a bazillion times before, we both in unison chimed in, “This place never gets old.” By this place, it could have been lots of things, but this time we were specifically talking about the view on The Dana Lawn at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.
For those just tuning into The JetSet Family, Knox and I are quite the pair. We met many moons ago at a Foo Fighters concert (shocker), but as quickly realized our similarities went far beyond our fondness for some rock band. We both also had an affinity for fine dining, had a mild to severe case of pop culture-itis, a major crush on Tom Ford, and we both really like nice
expensive things. There was a time this was a normal Friday night, but then JetSet Kid started grade school, and she became a breeder. And before we knew it, “mom sleep” began to take precedence over rubbing shoulders with celebs.
The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel Food & Wine Experience
Now when we connect over dinner, it’s better than ever. Even though we talk six times a day on Facebook, this is our time to catch-up in person and laugh until our sides hurt. Which is my favorite thing ever. Tonight, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel hosted an amazing Southeast Asian Street Food fête and we dined on Green Papaya and Grilled Shrimp Salad with Crab Summer Roll, Nasi Goreng Indonesian Fried Rice, Sunny side up Quail Eggs, Glazed Squab Breast; Singapore Noodles with Pork Belly and Lobster; Vietnamese BBQ Short Rib, Pickled Vegetables; and Panko Fried Coconut Sticky Rice/Mango Curd/Coconut Sorbet for dessert.
See, I told you we were fancy.
To see more of the delicious dishes we tasted, be sure to visit The JetSet Family on Facebook where I’ve uploaded more photos, and below is a recipe for one of the evening’s signature cocktails, the Passion Fruit Sticky Rice. Enjoy!
- 1.5 oz Sake
- 1/5 oz Bacardi Light
- 1 oz Passion Fruit Syrup
- .5 oz Vanilla Syrup
- Add all ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into martini glass and garnish with mango.
