This post was developed in partnership with Bayer, as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received the Aleve® Direct Therapy™ TENS Device and compensation to facilitate my review.
There’s a big sign at the local gym that reads, “Train Sore — Leave Your Ego at the Door.” Oh, my ego is in check alright, but OUCH my back is tight and aching throughout the day after morning exercise. I know it’s par for the course; however the thought of having to play chauffeur to Miss Kiddo from school to swim and theater practices, and then off to running errands, spending the entire day without a break is enough to make me want to cry. Thanks to heated seats, I know while sitting I’ll be fine, but it’s the in-and-out of the car that I’m dreading most. I also have an event I need to attend later this evening that I’ll be standing all night in cute (albeit uncomfortable) shoes making matters even more painful.
Thinking over a plan to relieve some of this pain, I know when I get home I still won’t be able to sit down and relax because by nature, moms have a million things to do around the house. Clean up, cook dinner, do a load of laundry, correct homework, you name it, get Kiddo ready for bed, all before my work event. As much as I would love to sink down into the couch with a pint of ice cream and a Grey’s Anatomy marathon, I simply don’t have that luxury. But there is something I can do that will relieve the soreness and provide me temporary relief of lower back pain associated with sore and aching muscles in the lower back due to strain from exercise or normal household and work activities.
Have you heard of Aleve Direct Therapy? The sleek device is exactly what my lower back needs right now. Once only available at a physician’s office, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), provides electrical stimulation therapy to relieve pain. There are two clinical theories of how TENS can relieve pain: by blocking the transmission of pain, and by stimulating endorphins, the body’s natural pain-reducing chemicals.
So what does Aleve Direct Therapy exactly feel like? Its waveform technology causes a deep penetrating tingling or gentle tapping sensations, depending on the particular phase of the treatment. The durable device can be adjusted for the level that feels best, and comes with a wireless remote. 30-minute intervals are recommended with 30-minute waiting periods between treatment sessions.
I’m happy (and relieved) to report that using Aleve Direct Therapy before heading out kept me on my toes and in adorable heels last night! For those out there that haven’t got time for the pain, Aleve Direct Therapy can be found at major stores in the Analgesics aisle near other topical pain relief products. It is also available at online retailers.
