The other day, the unthinkable happened. A bunch of us mom bloggers brought our summer break kiddos to Smashbox Studios and you know that old-school saying, “Children should be seen and not heard?” Welp, that’s EXACTLY what happened. Bananas, right? It was like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock’s Twilight Zone. My girls and I caught up and actually enjoyed uninterrupted adult conversation accompanied by a delicious meal catered by my favorite, Mendocino Farms, all thanks to Nintendo of America.
Ahhhh, Nintendo. You really know the way to a mom’s heart. For awhile I had no idea a world like this existed, but Nintendo did, and they outfitted Lightbox at Smashbox Studios with cozy bean bag chairs for kids to sack out in, silk screening stations to make t-shirts, and the most impressive candy buffet west of Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
All this to celebrate the new Nintendo 3DS game, Kirby: Planet Robobot. The kids got to partake in Kirby-themed activities, meet celebrity guests like Peyton List from Disney’s Bunk’d, Spencer List from The Bachelors, Terrell Ransom Jr. from The Amazing World of Gumball, Merit Leighton and Marlowe Peyton from Fresh Off the Boat, Benjamin Stockham from About a Boy and the guest of honor himself, Kirby.
Be sure to stay tuned, because Kiddo is about to receive her very first Nintendo 3DS gaming system just in time for our next flight, so I’ll be sure to pack it in her carry-on and I can’t wait to share with you her first hand review of the unit and find out her perspective on Kirby: Planet Robobot.
