Montage Beverly Hills

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills

It’s in the details. And Montage Beverly Hills won.

It wasn’t hard to fall hopelessly in love with the Montage Beverly Hills. They opened their doors, invited our family to spend a few days and I’m not sure we’ll ever be the same.  If you follow The JetSet Family on Facebook or Instagram, you have witnessed first-hand our family getaway unfold in real time. It was one of those family trips that throughout the stay you would pinch yourself and remember, “So, THIS is how Oprah lives…”

It came as no surprise their #MontageMemory won a 2014 Travel + Leisure Smitty Award #TLSMITTY.

Welcome to Suite 436 at Montage Beverly Hills montagebeverlyhills.com

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills

What was JSF’s initial reaction upon arriving? Grand. It really felt like something out of a movie. Everything happened so quickly, and I wish I took a moment to take it all in and be present. The structure is quite breathtaking.

How was JSF treated by the staff upon arrival? The staff at Montage Beverly Hills were lovely with smiles from ear-to-ear. Everything we needed was taken care of even before we could ask. The level of service set the bar and exceeded anything we could have hoped for.

Did check-in go smoothly in a timely fashion? Check-in went quickly without a hitch. We were warmly welcomed and Tot was given a small gift. The huge smile on her face was an indication that she was going to be very happy for the next few days.

Upon arriving in our suite, what type of welcome amenities if any were waiting? Our bellman, Nelson, served us champagne, cheese board with  bacon treats, nuts and a hand-written welcome note from the hotel. Oh, and the biggest, WELCOME COCO! Sign imaginable for JetSet Tot from Andrea at Paintbox.

A “SUITE” peek into where we stayed Junior Suite

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills

Was it big? How was it decorated? The room was big, beautiful and elegant. Including a semi-private sitting area with French doors, large flatscreen TV and a fold out bed perfect for JetSet Tot and her American Girl Dolls who of course came along.

Does it have a private balcony or veranda? How was the view? Our room had a private balcony with a beautiful view of Beverly Hills, and the Beverly Canon Garden terrace below which was beautifully set throughout our stay for a wedding. When the wind blew, the scent of the fresh flowers would fill our room. It was absolutely perfect when enjoying in-room dining for breakfast.

Was the bed comfortable? Enough pillows and blankets? If the bed was packable, I would have snuck it home with me. It was very comfortable and had the perfect amount of sleeping pillows and blankets for those who like to crank up the air-conditioning. We also enjoyed personalized embroidered pillows shams with our initials to make it even more like home. Everything is in the details.

Did the room meet JSF expectations? Was it spacious? Did it have wi-fi, a/c, etc.? How is the mini-bar The room exceeded our expectations. The Wi-Fi was spot on and since I love the room one degree above freezing, it was perfect. The mini-bar was stocked with an impressive selection of beverages, snacks and other goodies.

DO NOT DISTURB: Privacy Please The “executive” washroom

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills

Was the bathroom big? Private? Does it have a tub and shower? How was the water pressure? The marble bathroom was big, very clean and had a soaking tub with television, stand-alone shower and private toilet area. The shower had a shaving mirror, small bench seat and very good water pressure with ample hot water.

Are complimentary robes and slippers available for use during your stay? Montage Beverly Hills monogrammed robes and slippers for both adults and children are available for use during your stay. And they are quite nice!

Was the bathroom clean and orderly? Does it have a TV and phone? The bathroom was extremely clean, organized and had both a television and phone.

What type of  products are made available upon arrival?   During our stay, the hotel provided us with private label full-size products like shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

On the menu at Scarpetta Executive Chefs: Scott Conant | Freddy Vargas

What is their tastiest signature drink? How was the vibe and overall atmosphere? While Tot was at Paintbox, we started out the night with an “Amalfi” (bourbon, bitters, lime, mint & ginger ale,) and a “Fortuna” (pear vodka, St. Germain & peach puree.) Scarpetta is very romantic and perfect for date night. There were a few families seated near us, and the children seemed to really enjoy their meals as well; however if you have a lively bunch of little ones, I think I would suggest trying somewhere else for dinner.

How was the presentation of the primi piatti or small plates? What stood out? The Braised Short Ribs of Beef with vegetable and farro risotto was the star of the evening. The flavors were out of this world and the portion was on the large side for a small plate. We also enjoyed the Seared Sea Scallops very much.

What did JSF order as an entree? Did the chef do anything special? Tip #1: Do not leave Scarpetta without ordering spaghetti – even if it is to share. All pastas are made fresh. I recommend the Pici with Santa Barbara spot prawns, ricci di mare & cherry tomatoes. JetSet Dad enjoyed the Dry-Aged Sirloin of Beef with smoked potato puree, braised escarole & cremini mushroom stufato. It was quite the busy Friday night, so everything served to us was straight from the menu.

How did JSF end the night at the restaurant? Any special desserts?  The Coconut Panna Cotta with caramelized pineapple & guava “soup” was off the charts. The next time we return, I would like to try the Meyer Lemon Tart with toasted vanilla marshmallow, candied fennel & grapefruit puree.

Pool, Paintbox and The Conservatory Grill Where to splash and play

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills Family Travel

How clean is the pool? Are their lifeguards on duty? The Montage Beverly Hills rooftop pool was quite large and had the most beautiful views of the city. And the whirlpool outside was ideal for those chillier June Gloom mornings. Lifeguards were not on duty. Sharing the same area was The Conservatory Grill which serves the most amazing brunch.

Are there any kid clubs? What about activities for teens? Paintbox is available on the premise and has wonderful programs for younger school-aged children. Paintbox allows parents to enjoy the property sans children and visit the spa, dinner, or some light shopping. The kids loved the impromptu “Back of the House” tour where they were escorted all around the property and through the kitchens. Their arts & crafts and science programs were also a blast. Our Paintbox counselor was Andrea and she was pretty amazing. Not only did she send Tot a postcard thanking her for visiting Paintbox, but sent a “We miss you!” note a few months later.

Are cabanas available for rental? Yes, cabanas are available for use at the pool if needed.

What type of poolside dining is available? The Conservatory Grill is pretty spectacular. Especially for brunch. Freshly squeezed juices and the best kale salad I have ever had. The service was also extraordinary. I highly recommend visiting regardless if you are a guest of the hotel or just in the area. This has become a top of the list favorite of The JetSet Family.

SPAtime

Spa Montage

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills Family Travel

What service was provided at Spa Montage? How was it? Would you recommend it to a friend? The Spa Montage Customized Facial was the ultimate spa experience. I can’t wait to book one again and yes, I would recommend it for everyone. Your skin is analyzed and the treatment is personalized for your specific needs.

What type of public/semi-private areas are available for changing and relaxing? Does it have a private balcony or veranda? How was the view?

What specifically enhanced your visit? What was your favorite part? I loved the co-ed mineral wellness pool in the atrium. It was majestic. I also took advantage of the Turkish steam room and whirlpool inside the women’s locker area. I was very tempted to book an appointment for a haircut at the Kim Vo salon; however the

How was the overall cleanliness?  Very clean, very quiet and very enjoyable. One of the best spas I’ve visited and I look forward to spending more time there.

Afternoon Tea Parq Bar

The JetSet Family // Montage Beverly Hills Family Travel

What was so special about Afternoon Tea at Parq Bar? Spending some uninterrupted down time together on a Saturday afternoon was really nice. No electronics or distractions, delicious bites and memorable conversation. It was one of the best parts of our getaway.

What were your favorite items on the menu? It doesn’t get much better than hibiscus tea and the roast beef finger sandwiches at Parq Bar. They were beyond.

What did JetSet Dad think of Afternoon Tea? JetSet Dad was dreading talk of Afternoon Tea, until the wonderful Karla presented him with a Gentleman’s Tea. He was served scotch, sliders and pie.  He immediately fell in love.

Would you go back?  In a heartbeat.

DETAILS The fine print

Montage Beverly Hills is very family friendly. Paintbox was a favorite of JetSet Tot, as was the pool and Afternoon Tea. Montage Beverly Hills also did a wonderful job at making our stay even more memorable by being active on social media. The property would interact with us via Instagram and Twitter, tailoring special moments and treats on the fly.

I love that you gave the spa such a high cleanliness rating! The whole experience is lost if the spa isn’t clean. I also like that there are cabanas if you want to rent them.
