Every now and again on my travels I stumble upon a spot that feels like home. It’s rare, but it does happen. Those places are immediately stamped with JSF FAVE because let’s face it, if you’ve seen one cozy bed with soft white linens, you’ve seen them all. As a travel writer, the line between work and play slowly blends until traveling and hotel living become very methodical. Without even realizing it, every detail is carefully studied and picked apart under a microscope and scrutinized. Suddenly, our brains are comparing apples to oranges with other places we’ve stayed to see how they measure up.

This time was different. I know, I know — I’ve said that before, but it’s happened again. I knew this property had already passed the test the minute we arrived. I could feel from the energy there was something very special about Miramonte Resort and Spa. Located in Indian Wells, this four-diamond resort is just three miles from Palm Springs really is a beautiful gem. It made me finally understand the peace and serenity that one hightails it to the desert in search of. At Miramonte there was no hustle and bustle, just kindness all around. I hadn’t even gotten my key and already I didn’t want to leave.
Our one-bedroom villa was decorated in earth tones and overlooked the pool and spa with the Santa Rosa mountains reminding us of a painted backdrop. Each night as the sun set upon the Mediterranean style resort, Kiddo and I would sit on the balcony and watch the sky change colors while recapping the day, and discussing what to do next over an enormous fruit and cheese plate.
But the truth was all I could think about was my spa treatment at The Well Spa. I had a Rain Massage on the books and after a crazy few weeks I couldn’t wait to be pampered.

During our stay we made sure to frequent Artisan farm-to-table restaurant where we met our new friend and restaurant host, Aaron Hamilton. Kiddo’s brain nearly exploded from happiness at the mere sight of his name badge. Not only did he have the same last name as her current obsession, the Broadway musical Hamilton, but his first name was Aaron. As in Aaron Burr the dude that shot Hamilton. Oh, you can bet both he and I got a complete history lesson from Kiddo that dinner.
The dinner was amazing. I opted for the filet and Kiddo dined on what could possibly have been the best salmon dish either of us have ever tasted. The Salmon Mimosa at The Grove Artisan Kitchen with roasted fingerlings + grilled artichoke hearts was not only perfectly prepared, but it was presented beautifully making each bite to die for. In fact, so delicious that since returning, I’ve actually considered on multiple occasions, making the 2-hour drive just for dinner.

Oh, and remember that Rain massage I mentioned earlier? The Well Spa has been named ‘Top 100 Resort Spas’ by Conde Nast Traveler, with good reason. Featuring 13 treatment rooms, seasonal offerings and a co-ed courtyard with private salt water pool, I can attest it was a massage I will never forget for all the right reasons. I may or may not have compared my masseuse’s hands to those of angels.
Patrons of the spa do not have to be guests of the hotel. So should you find yourself near Indian Wells, carve out sometime to visit The Well Spa for some well needed rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.

Are you a sun worshipper or slave to SPF? I love the sun as long as I have my SPF50, but I do cherish my cabana time as well. The poolside cabanas at Miramonte Resort & Spa are wonderful for families. A spot to regroup in the shade, yet clearly see the entire pool and watch over your brood. Parents looking to enjoy the perfect poolside refresher with a little vacay spirit should order the Miramosa…you’ll be glad you did.

My daughter and I absolutely loved our stay at Miramonte Resort & Spa for so many reasons. I highly recommend this property for families, couples and even those looking for the perfect spot for a Palm Springs multi-generational getaway. It’s also a fantastic choice for those deciding where to stay for Desert Trip in October.
Our time visiting the property made me fall in love with the desert all over again, and gave my daughter a whole new experience. This is a resort I can see my family returning to for years to come. Like I said, it feels like home.
