Have you seen the trailer yet for the new Twentieth Century Fox action-comedy KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES? The movie looks absolutely hysterical. In the film, an ordinary suburban couple played by Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher find it not so easy keeping up with their new very good looking and ultra-sophisticated neighbors, Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot, leaving things to heat up once they discover that Mr. and Mrs. Jones are covert operatives.
Without giving too much of the movie away, in celebration of KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES, our friends at Twentieth Century Fox invited me up to Hollywood to experience a very special “Spy-ca Camp” as fellow moms and I spent the day learning some savvy new spy-like skills.
So THIS is what mom does when the kids are in class…
We started out the day with get this, indoor sky-diving at iFly Hollywood at Universal City Walk!!! SO FUN. But no one told me that my instructor would be a dead ringer for Heath Ledger and y’all KNOW how I feel about Heath Ledger! It was a tad bit distracting to say the least. Anyway… iFly Hollywood was a blast and I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun while Kiddo was at school. It’s definitely something we’ll come back and do as a family in the very near future because I know Hubs + Kiddo would love reaching terminal velocity.
Next stop for “Spy-ce Camp” the girls and I headed over to Residuals Tavern to meet up with Eddie O’Flahery of the Southern California Darts Association. Here we would work on our form and learn how to play a proper game of darts with the pros after a quick lunch of noshing on Chinese Food. Well the food was amazing, but I royally suck at throwing darts. Word to the wise…should you see me with a dart in my hand I suggest you duck and cover because there is a really good chance you might get struck even if you are standing behind me. Go figure, but it’s true. I’m an awful dart player!
Now this has nothing to do with Mr. O’Flahery’s lesson because the rest of the women nailed bulls-eyes left and right. I think I’m going to leave darts up to the pros and stick with skydiving for now.
While dad is at work…
Last, but not least, before we headed back to reality, “Spy-ce Camp” treated us to an Art of Seduction Cooking experience with internationally renowned chef, Saverio Posarelli. During the class, Chef Posarelli taught us how to make the most amazing 3-course dinner with seasonal ingredients in under an hour complete with signature cocktail.
The risotto served inside a pumpkin was amazing, but this fresh dessert with fresh berries + Grand Marnier was my favorite! Every bite of every course was beyond delicious.
