The Westgate Hotel Presidential Suite

Presidential Suite at The Westgate Hotel San Diego

Welcome to the Presidential Suite

This week for Skimbaco’s #IGTravelThursday I’m taking you inside the beautiful Presidential Suite of The Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego. Just steps from the hip and trendy Gaslamp District, the hotel is located where the concrete jungle meets the surf. It is almost impossible to believe the kind of magic that awaits you in the lobby. As invited guests of The Westgate Hotel, JetSet Tot was introduced to an authenticity, decor, service and feel that could easily rival some of the best hotels in Paris. Until our big Mother/Daughter trip when she turns 12, this will have to do stateside.

The Presidential Suite offers a 1,500 square feet  “private world of comfort” with full-kitchen, two Italian marbled baths, two bedrooms, a large living room with fireplace, and the most beautiful panoramic views of downtown San Diego that you can possibly imagine. From the private step-out balcony, the Harbor and Coronado Bridge is in the distance making it the ideal backdrop for your San Diego getaway.

The European furniture, art and antiques are all one-of-a-kind signed by the artist, and the wall coverings are imported from Italy. It’s no wonder these accommodations have been sought after by some of the world’s biggest celebrities, royals, presidents and dignitaries decade-after-decade.

#IGTravelThursday host, Luxury Travel Mom, came to mind almost immediately while staying at The Westgate Hotel. She has a daughter a few years older than JetSet Tot, and they travel together quite frequently as we do. In fact, they just returned from a trip of a lifetime, exploring the art and culture of Cuba – which you should really check out. Luxury Travel Mom is not only a great storyteller, but has this lovable charm and fantastic sense of humor that makes following her quite amusing while informative.

What a lovely suiteThe Westgate Hotel has – as well as the views out of the window . I love staying in hotels that have character and when we just were in Andalucia (Spain) I found us some amazing luxury hotels to stay at with restored Moorish features combined with modern decor. It was a great experience added with roman spas and amazing food – and service in general!

    What a beautiful suite!

  • Carlee C April 17, 2014

Those rooms are beautiful. It is like taking a trip back in time to the 1920’s or 1930’s. So ornate.

  • LaVonne April 17, 2014

My husband and I could use a getaway at this hotel!

  • Katja of skimbaco April 17, 2014

    Looks amazing!!!

Okay, so this place looks totally amazing – just one problem. Who would want to leave the room to explore the city or go that meeting? Not me…

  • I really need to get back to San Diego soon, it has been WAY too long since I last visited! And the best thing about staying in hotels – it’s totally hassle free. There’s nothing to clean, no papers to file, you can just sit back and relax. And I have to agree with SJ, who would want to leave that room…? 🙂

  • Love the chic yet throwback essence here! Reminds me of some of the luxe Toronto ones we’ve recently visited. How did the tot enjoy it? Mine would have been quite content lying under those covers with her ipad in hand!

Very nice. Old time elegance, a living room and proper cushions and pillows will always get a thumbs up. Oh, and a well-stocked classical library. Thanks!
