The Grand Del Mar San Diego

The Grand Del Mar San Diego Family Vacation

I’m about to make a very bold statement that I am so excited to share with you. Due to a recent stay at The Grand Del Mar in San Diego, I’ve decided the property is my favorite family-friendly luxury resort for a family vacation in the United States. Wow, that’s huge!

From the moment we arrived at The Grand Del Mar gate, to the minute we stepped out of the car, checked-in, was escorted to our room and so on, The JetSet Family was treated with a respect and kindness that cannot be taught. Every single member of the team staff, was gracious in such a natural way.

Welcome to Grand Del Mar!

The Grand Del Mar San Diego Family Vacation

The Grand Del Mar proves that traveling with kids does not have to include elaborate theme parks and wild attractions. A proper family friendly vacation simply consists of a property that has something for everyone to enjoy and a staff who makes all of those areas of interest fun. This my friends, is The Grand Del Mar.

First, the property is stunning. The drive up to the entrance sets the mood for your entire stay. I promise, you will instantly forget you are in San Diego instead of a mediterranean retreat. That’s how beautiful The Grand Del Mar is. A quick tour of the property on the way to your room will have your tummy fluttering with anticipation of what’s to come.

The lobby is grand and inviting and the rooms are breathtaking. We were treated to a stay in Veranda guestroom which was on the second floor overlooking the serene adults-only pool from our expansive balcony. Shane escorted us to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. He was a pleasure to be around, and did a fabulous job pointing out key elements of the room that I may have otherwise missed.

I had some work to get done, so Kiddo was off to the Explorer’s Club which is an amazing camp-like / child care facility on property. There was so much to do, see and play with that the children couldn’t wait to visit and never wanted to leave. Nicole and Jordan did such a fantastic job at making sure all of the children were having fun and taken care of.

That evening, Kiddo and I headed over to Amaya for dinner. Christophe and Armand made our evening perfect. From just the right suggestions, to enjoyable conversation, we had a wonderful meal that I will share in a separate post with lots of delicious looking foodie pics! So stay tuned!

Upon returning to our room, turn-down service made sure we had yummy truffles, rose petals and fresh water. What might have been the best blackout curtains in any hotel room ever, the bed was so comfortable and we all slept like newborns.

FORE! At Grand Del Mar

Bright and early, Matthew carted us up to the Pro Shop so we could meet the amazing, Trevor, for Kiddos one-on-one golf lesson. Thanks to Fore!! Axel and Hudson, she had a super cute golf outfit and lucky cap that made her look like she walked straight out of the movie Caddyshack! After the lessons, she couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had. She learned about posture, keeping her eye on the ball and aiming, shifting her weight, hip movement and even did monkey bar challenges to help children learn the importance of warming up before practice.

RELAX. At Grand Del Mar

Me? While this was going on, I was hightailing it to the spa for a Portrait Facial with Sharon and some much needed JetSet Mom time. Oh…just like Amaya, stay tuned, because my spa time at The Grand Del Mar was so wonderful, it deserves a post of it’s own. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeelightful.

I cannot convey how special this property is. We will have wonderful memories of this visit for a very long time and cannot thank them enough for hosting such an exceptional stay. We are forever grateful and cannot recommend this property enough.

Thank you, to our new friends at The Grand Del Mar. xo
