“You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall? The most famous reindeer of all?” – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

I’m not sure what it is, but I always find myself quoting Christmas Carols when I open blog posts this time of year. I mean have you not heard Jack Johnson’s rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? It’s on our JetSet Family Holiday Party Playlist this year all you need this holiday!

The extent of my DIY repertoire is severely limited. I rather buy than make, simply because the thought of dried glue on my fingers is enough to make me go bonkers. Last year, when JetSet Tot was in Kindergarten, I had the privilege of making these super cute Rudolph Candy Canes for the kids during my time as room parent. The kids loved them, I enjoyed making them and not only was there a very little amount of clean up, but virtually no glue disasters whatsoever!

What you’ll need:

Candy Canes

Small red pom-poms

Googly eyes

Brown Yarn

Red or green pipe cleaners

Scotch tape

Glue

Step one: Place two candy canes in the opposite direction. Use a small piece of scotch tape to secure this position.

Step two: Tightly wrap a piece of the brown yarn (about an inch thick,) around the the candy canes.

Step three: Glue a set of googly eyes and one red pom-pom on the brown yarn for Rudolph’s red nose and eyes.

Step four: Loop a pipe cleaner through the backside of the brown thread and twist off to make an ornament.

Done! Just hang on your tree or fun for decorating your gift wrapped packages!

Happy holidays!
