Define your Cinderella moment.
Oh, I have so much to tell you…
I’m sure at some point the possibility of a Fairy Godmother has crossed your mind. I know it has mine. But what I did not know is if you believe hard enough, and with all of your heart, they truly do exist. I’m living proof because it happened to me on the way to the Cinderella World Premiere. However, my Fairy Godmother didn’t come to me in the form of the wonderfully talented, Helena Bonham Carter. More like my friends at JCPenney stepped in and orchestrated an entire day fit for a princess. If you are following me on Instagram, you likely saw the entire experience unfold and it was pretty amazing from start to finish.
Pumpkins and princes and stylists, oh my!
So it all began with my chauffeured horse and carriage helped me brave the LA traffic beast and promptly whisked me to the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Upon arrival, JCPenney had a fully staffed beauty army in place to get me ready for the ball. I was assigned my very own Prince who tended to my every need, and escorted me throughout the day arm-in-arm. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t missing having a dashing young man in an ascot at my disposal fetching me Pellegrino as I type this. #boldfacelie
The day’s “Glam Squad” included celebrity fashion stylist, Joey Tierney, who helped me pick out a phenom gold-tone lariat necklace which screamed Bianca Jagger meets Ginger Rothstein. I knew in a heartbeat it was the perfect piece to add to my never ending collection.
Next stop was hair and makeup where JCPenney makeup artists and salon stylists did their magic by brightening up my eyes, and flat-ironing my locks.
The rain never bothered me anyway.
Whoops. Wrong movie.
We were now red carpet bound at the glorious El Capitan Theater. Walking the red carpet and rubbing elbows with celebrities on Hollywood Boulevard simply never gets old. At least for me it doesn’t. Growing up far away from the bright lights of tinsel town, these events are still a really big deal to me. And each time it only gets more and more exciting.
Even a few raindrops (a.k.a. torrential downpour in Los Angeles,) couldn’t keep me or the stars away from the Cinderella World Premiere and Glam Ball hosted by JCPenney. As I strolled past the press corral, it’s hard not to take in the moment. The paparazzi’s bulbs explode frame by frame and I reminded myself to be present in the now. Because this is my moment, and when the clock strikes 9pm, my coach will promptly turn back into a pumpkin right before my very eyes.
The beautiful people.
So who did I see? What did we do? I know you are dying to hear the goods, and of course I’m going to dish the deets! This red carpet event was packed with celebrities. From the cast of Cinderella, and members of the Disney / ABC Family, to high school Tiger Beat crushes and John Hughes icons – this was obviously the hottest ticket in town and everyone looked fantastic.
Sarah Hyland strikes a pout on the red carpet with Grumpy Cat. Also in attendance was: Busy Phillips, Molly Ringwald, Jason Priestly, Ian Ziering, Mario Lopez, Constance Zimmer, Jeremy Sisto, Courtney B. Vance, Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart, Lou Diamond Phillips, Toni Colette, Octavia Spencer, Heather McDonald, and Ali Larter,
If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to visit the El Capitan Theater, then you know just how special this world premiere really was. There were familiar faces everywhere you looked. It was impossible to walk only a few inches without having to worry about who’s ball gown train you were about to step on. Yet for the first time I didn’t feel as though I was at your typical Hollywood event. I was in a Disney fairy tale.
It was also a fairy tale because the stunning Lily James and Richard Madden were seated a few rows behind us, and I spotted Cate Blanchett looking absolutely flawless. Leave it to Disney to make a story we’ve been told so many times special again. I knew I would swoon over the costumes, and there is no denying the storytelling would be superb, but was it going to be enough to keep my interest for two plus hours considering I knew the ending? Absolutely. Oh, and “Have courage and be kind.”
Cinderella arrives in theaters March 13.
